As founder of Mac's Antique Auto Parts in 1978, and a longtime vintage car enthusiast, Douglas McIntosh set a goal to offer premium products with enduring value and fast delivery. Early on, he became aware of the need to be able to manufacture his own line of quality upholstery and related products for Ford restorers worldwide.

Quickly outgrowing his home's three-car garage in Lockport, New York, Doug relocated his thriving operation to its current location in 1979.

In 1993, he came one step closer to realizing his goal for a top quality upholstery product line by acquiring all the upholstery production equipment and patterns from The Cover Up Upholstery Co. of Saint Catharine's, Ontario, Canada. This firm had been started by Richard Abass in 1973 and with twenty years of experience was well known in Canada for making top quality upholstery products.

This acquisition enabled Mac's to now produce in-house a complete line of antique upholstery for Fords from 1909 through 1948. The ongoing addition of new patterns has expanded the year coverage to include 1914 through 1951, along with supplemental upholstery products and alternate fabric choices.

The next step in the evolution of the Mac's upholstery division occurred in 2005 with the adoption of its own brandname, CARTOUCHE™ (pronounced kar-toosh). The name cartouche refers to the Civil War era stamp of quality put on saddles and gunstocks, but only after rigorous quality inspections were completed.

All of Mr. McIntosh's original quality guidelines are still in place today with the CARTOUCHE™ brand name. These same principles are found in every antique Ford upholstery item we proudly handcraft and produce right here in the United States. We know your Ford vehicle reflects the pride and passion you have for it. Purchase CARTOUCHE™ products, and treat yourself and your car to the best.
