The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, when running the LT1 6.2-liter V8, will sprint to 60 mph in four seconds flat. In less than four more seconds, this 2010 Chevrolet Camaro will have run the quarter-mile.

You’re looking at the latest record setter for the real street class. The American Racing Headers and FARKS-Supercar sponsored 2010 Camaro laid down a world-record smashing 7.70-seconds in the quarter mile during a final-round appearance at the NMCA event at Summit Motorsports Park in Ohio.

The drivers, George Farkouh and Louis Flippides, knew the 2010 Camaro was capable of the time, but feared pushing the car on the hot, humid day at the track. But, Flippides had this to say about the run:

Overall the weekend went very smooth. We knew the car had the potential to set the record, but we wanted to make sure that we did not hurt any parts during the event. At our last race in Joliet, Illinois, we blew a head gasket and started to pump water. We did not want a repeat performance of that experience. The weather was hot and humid in Ohio, and we worked around some rain that washed out the track Saturday night. Regardless, the NMCA track workers did a great job making sure the track was in good shape for the final day of racing.

LSXtv reports Farkouh had fallen behind, but came back to lay down a 7.75-second pass, passing a COPO Camaro, and finally clocking the record-setting 7.70-second pass to the number two qualifier.
