The Continental Spare Wheel made its first appearance on Edsel Ford’s Lincoln Continental in 1942. By the early fifties, the Continental Kit was made and purchased for virtually every make of automobile on the North American market. In most cases it was an option directly from the car manufacturers. Because of its dramatic appearance, the Continental Kit has become a much sought after accessory and to this day typifies the spirit of the fifties and sixties. This kit fits 1961-63 Thunderbird Hardtops only.

What’s Included:

Tire Carrier Mechanism - tilts back for easier access to the trunk

Center Basket - 12 gauge steel horse-shoe shaped bar on a vertical skirt with a display area and light for the license tag; it encircles the tire and bolts to the bumper

Chrome Band - covers the tread of the tire

Faceplate - covers the wall and the front of the tire; can be open to show a hubcap or a wire wheel, or solid as displayed

Back Plate - covers the top half of the spare on the rear so the tire is encased
