The purpose of the expansion tank is to protect the enclosed cooling system on your 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, or 1964 Ford or 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, or 1964 Mercury from excessive pressure, allowing antifreeze and air within the system to expand with rising temperature and pressure, thus protecting your ride from internal damage and saving you from having to make costly repairs. These brand new radiator surge tanks were the kind used on 1961-1964 Galaxie big block engines, and are an accurate reproduction of the original, made in brass and painted black.
